Customer complaints against UCC on a decline, says TRAI
December 15, 2014
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has stated that the average number of complaints received per month against unsolicited commercial communications (UCC) has reduced by over 80 per cent in 2014-15.
The number of complaints against UCC stood at 58,446 as of October 31 in 2014-15. This translates to an average of 5,845 complaints per month. In 2013-14, the average number of such complaints stood at 33,147 per month. The total number of complaints registered during 2013-14 stood at 397,772.
TRAI has laid down a framework for controlling UCC through the 'Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations, 2010', which prohibit telemarketers from sending UCC to consumers that have registered their numbers in the national customer preference register for not receiving such services.- Most Viewed
